We had been dogless since
June 2000 when our boxer/amstaff cross died from cancer. We were
heartbroken and certainly didn't think about getting another dog anytime
soon. A very good friend of mine saw Chuck on the web site that the
Cleveland ( county) Kennel owns. She new that I really loved the
molossers and convinced me to see this dog. This was in late February
2001. Chuck had been in the pound for almost a month. He was caught as a
stray in a very bad neighborhood of Cleveland. When we went to see him
my wife absolutely fell in love with him and a couple of days later he
was with us. Extremely shy at first, he started to get comfortable with
us a little at a time. For the first 6 weeks or so he was only my wife's
dog. But as time has gone by it's as if he was born here. We couldn't be
happier with the outcome of this adoption. Chuck seems to be healthy
enough. He loves to wrestle and take rides to the park. He is very
gentle and quiet except for the snoring. When we got Chuck he weighed
about 78 lbs. Obviously in need of calories. I don't know what his
weight is now or what it should be. But I do know that he could never
carry much more than 95 lbs. or so. He's starting to look very fit. He
is a finicky eater but after trying different combinations he really
likes dry Pedigree mixed with Biljac. I could go on and on with this
story. We absolutely love him and he is such a changed dog from the time
we first saw him. He is really happy and well behaved. I do appreciate
the information that you provided me early on. Please keep in touch when
you have the time.
