When Dewey came to me, he had
been living with George, Gina, and Angel.
Someone had abandoned him on the street and he had
been taken to a shelter and mislabeled as a sharpei/mastiff mix. A good
Samaritan from the DDBS, recognizing that he was a Dogue, paid his fee
and got him out of the shelter. Renamed "Dewey" for his enormous dewlap,
he had generalized demodex mange, a belly full of worms, and large
painful cherry eyes in both eyes. Two eye surgeries and months of mange
treatment later, he is back to health. At 75 pounds, he is slight, but
what he lacks in size he makes up with heart. He is the sweetest, most
loving, and most cuddly dog I've ever met. He is incredibly clumsy but
very active. He loves to run at full speed in the water and carry sticks
twice his size. However, what he enjoys most are his snore-filled naps
with his favorite stuffed animals (the larger the better!). Thank you,
George, for bringing Dewey into my life —he
is without a doubt the most wonderful dog in the world!
