Hello! I'm French and I live
near Paris. I do a job of "welcome family" for dogs which are waiting
for a new adopting family (puppies and/or adults). Most of the time they
have been mistreated...Last week, we have rescued a female Dogue de
Bordeaux of 7 years old. She is superb (I think as I don't know a lot
about this breed) and has been used for making babies and sell them for
money. She seems to never have know what is life inside of a house ! She
discovers everything but she is really kind and sweet. I have 5 other
dogs (all breeds, male and female, young and old) and 3 cats. She gets
well with all of them and is very quiet and obedient.
I am sending a few pictures of JENNA, poor miserable thing which has
been abandoned in an area for old cars and has eaten during 3 months :
stainless steel, screws, nails, glass, plastic and so on (the vet found
all of this in her intestines that were red of blood). She was so thin
that we could see her spine and ribs! Now she's a lot better : she put
some weight on and begins to recover confidence in people : she even
begins to play and jump at me to say Good Morning !
Two Weeks Later - a new Jenna Update! (We advised Beatrice to contact
the SADB)
I have contacted the French club. They answered me nicely. But I have
decided to keep JENNA. She is very well now. She has completely
recovered from her bad treatments. She barks to prevent when somebody is
standing outside the house or ring the bell. And now, I can see in her
behavior (and particularly in her eyes) that she "exists" as a real dog?
She is "her" and it's marvelous to see the changes and the progress
every day! She is very attached to me and covers me from her look all
the time. She never leaves me and follows me everywhere in the house.
Sometimes, it's difficult because she's so big and she cannot turn
backwards in the corridors! It's funny to see her doing a "reverse mode"
slowly, taking a great car not to walk on the other small dogs or cats,
or not to bump in the furniture!
She begins to enjoy little walks in the forest but she is still very
afraid of the environment that she isn't familiar with. She prefers to
stay home or in the car, where she feels in security. She jumps at me
every morning to say hello, even if it's hard for her to move her weight
and because of her age. The fur becomes to be of a beautiful red color
as I clean and brush her regularly. She seems to enjoy it very much,
particularly after when I tell her how much she is beautiful, the most
beautiful Dogue de Bordeaux in the world! She looks at me like with a
smile on her face and jumps and plays...I'm so happy to have rescued her
because she is quiet, discret, faithful and so much recognising! I'll
send you some other pictures of JENNA with her friends soon...
With all my friendship: Beatrice |
