Mia (aka "Missing in
Action", named by her foster mom, Kellie Kubala) was a 5 month old
female puppy from Texas who came into rescue April 28, 2001. On May 5,
she had to be euthanized due to contracting the Parvo Virus either at
the shelter, on the street or at her previous "home", and complications
with Sarcoptic mange. She had eaten only one full meal since being in
foster with DDBS. As it was when we got her she only had weighed 24 lb.
and had no hair on her entire body. She seemed to have had a peppy
attitude and a thrive for playing as would any other puppy which
inspired us to help but she suddenly took a turn for the worse and it
was the only humane thing we could do for her. She has passed knowing
that others cared for her in such a short time and that they tried to
undue what another human had painfully and carelessly done to her. Shame
on the previous owner who cowardly threw this girl out on the street and
who did not seek to get her the help she needed before her condition was
so severe. And for the breeder who did not microchip her before she had
left their care and let her slip through the cracks and become just an
unfortunate victim of the breeding game. -George |
